Chapter 37
KGOTHATSO .CHAPTER : 37 .
— IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT .
He groans painfully rolling out of the bed and attempting to touch his aching back . He falls down on his knees still groaning as Kgothatso immediately wakes up from her sleep .
Kgothatso : Mandla ..
She jumps out of the bed and runs to him .. she kneels down infront of him ...
Kgothatso : what's wrong ?
Mandlawenkosi : m..my back , ah! My back ..
Kgothatso : oh no ..
She glances at his back ..
Kgothatso : she's doing it again , where's your bracelet Mandlawenkosi ?
Mandlawenkosi : i dont know .
Kgothatso : what do you mean you don't know ? you don't take the bracelet off !
She sighs ..
Kgothatso : i know you're angry but this is your life , taking off the bracelet will cost you your life Mandla dammit .
She stands up and helps him up , she lays him on stomach exposing his back .
Kgothatso : goshh ..
She takes her necklace and begins rubbing it on his back as he groans ...
Mandlawenkosi : Kgothatso that hurts !
Kgothatso : just hold it in .
Her hand begins burning ..
Kgothatso : what the hell ?? Mandla ..
Mandlawenkosi : whats wrong ?
Kgothatso : My hand , my hand is burning .
She says still not removing the hand .
Mandlawenkosi : why are you still keeping the hand there ? Take it off .
Kgothatso : no , i wont take it off and let her win .
She says applying pressure yet her hand burning more and more .
Kgothatso : (cries) no ..
Mandlawenkosi : Kgothatso remove your hand !
Kgothatso : No !
Mandlawenkosi : Kgothatso !
Kgothatso : If i remove my hand , she'll apply pressure on your back and your condition will worsen .
Mandlawenkosi : but...but you're burning .
Kgothatso : I'm gonna be fine , im still gonna go though a lot ..
As the thought of pregnancy crosses her mind ...
She closes her eyes still placing her hand on his back , she begins chanting his clan names as she begins to shake . Her hands burning more and more .. she begins sweating , shaking ..
She falls down on the bed as she starts crying .. he gets off the bed and glances at her .
Mandlawenkosi : your hand ..
He carries her to the bathroom and gets into the shower , he turns the cold water on pouring it on her burning hand .
Mandlawenkosi : you should've thought about yourself first .
Kgothatso : how can I ? you were worsening .
She says faintly , closing her eyes halfway .
Mandlawenkosi : look at your hand now ..
Kgothatso : as long as you're okay .
He sighs lightly and they get out of the shower , he opens the medicine cabinet and takes out the ointment and bandage . They head out of the bathroom and he places her on the bed .
Mandlawenkosi : give me your hand .
She places her hand on top of his as he starts applying the ointment , she winces ..
Mandlawenkosi : stubborn ..
He bandages her hand ..
Mandlawenkosi : should be better .
He glances at her ..
Mandlawenkosi : Kgothatso ..
Kgothatso : I'm...I'm dizzy .
He places her in bed and covers her ..
Mandlawenkosi : do you need water ?
Kgothatso : No ..
He sighs and gets in bed also , he glances at her as she gasps ..
Mandlawenkosi : what did you do ?
Kgothatso : the more I heal you , the more i lose my energy .
Mandlawenkosi : then why did you do it ?
Kgothatso : please stop shouting at me .
Mandlawenkosi : you're risking your life for mine .
Kgothatso : isn't it how it's supposed to be ?
She says gasping ..
Mandlawenkosi : you make me so angry ..
Kgothatso : I know .
Mandlawenkosi : but i love you regardless .
She nods .
Kgothatso : please hold me ..
He sighs lightly ..
Kgothatso : please ..
He pulls her closer and she lays on his chest ...
Kgothatso : I might feel better .
Mandlawenkosi : just sleep .
She closes her eyes immediately hearing a baby's cries ..
Mandlawenkosi : do you hear that ?
Kgothatso : what ?
Mandlawenkosi : those cries ..
Kgothatso : we're not supposed to look where the cries are .
Mandlawenkosi : (sighs) okay ..
Her heart aches , she'll never hear those cries when she's giving birth . All she's gonna be doing is planning a funeral for a newborn baby . She closes her eyes falling asleep ..

— IN THE MORNING ..
Samkele : Sis Kgothatso ...
She shakes her gently as she opens her eyes .
Kgothatso : hmm ?
Samkele : your brother is here .
Kgothatso : huh ?
Samkele : he's here .
She jumps off the bed slowly ..
Kgothatso : I'm a bit dizzy , please tell him to come .
Samkele : okay .
She walks out as Kgothatso sighs ..
Kgothatso : what's happening to me ??
Kgothalo walks in ..
Kgothalo : hey .
Kgothatso : hello .
He sits besides her and kisses her forehead .
Kgothalo : how are you ? I had to come here .
Kgothatso : I'm fine .
He raises his eyebrow .
Kgothalo : you're fine .
Kgothatso : what do you want me to say ? Im sad because I'm gonna be pregnant with a stillborn baby ?
Kgothalo : Kgothatso ...
Kgothatso : I don't want to cry .
Kgothalo : when will you cry ?
Kgothatso : I'm not going to cry , I'm more than strong .
Kgothalo : don't act tough with me .
Kgothatso : im not acting tough , i am tough .
Kgothalo : did you tell your husband ?
Kgothatso : he overheard our conversation yesterday .
She says sighing ..
Kgothatso : and he was angry ..
Kgothalo : i get where he's coming from , should've told him first .
Kgothatso : we just got married , im still trying to wrap my head around my marriage . I love him but ... I prefer telling you first before telling him .
Kgothalo : We're twins by birth and best friends by choice . Mandla is your husband , lets learn how to put our significant others first before us ..
She sighs .
Kgothatso : that's going to be a bit hard .
Kgothalo : I know but .. we'll get used to it .
She nods .
Kgothatso : okay .
Kgothalo : does grandmother know ?
Kgothatso : I think she saw it with me . Only mom and our sisters don't know .
Kgothalo : are you planning on telling them ?
Kgothatso : I have to ..
Kgothalo : it's gonna be tough .
Kgothatso : and I'll be tougher .
