Chapter 28

KGOTHATSO .

CHAPTER : 28 .

— THE FOLLOWING DAY .

The sun shines brightly over the Nongoma Village . The air is filled with the scent of traditional incense and the sound of drums beating in a distance . The beautiful sun casting a warm glow over the bustling streets . The villagers are abuzz with excitement , dressed in their finest traditional zulu attire , eager to celebrate the union of Kgothatso and Mandlawenkosi .

In Kgothatso's bedroom , she prepares for her big day . Kgothalo sits there watching his twin sister transform into a beautiful tswana bride . A vision of beauty , in her stunning traditional tswana attire .. her ponytail completing the look .

Kgothalo : it's sad to even think you're not marrying into a tswana family .

Kgothatso : it's fine .

Kelebogile : you look beautiful Kgothie.

Kgothatso : only my man gets to call me like that , not you .

Gosiame : oh my my .

Realeboga : why did they change the way they do things though ? Why are they the ones coming here instead of us going there ?

Kgothatso : I really don't know but it actually saves me the time to do everything properly .

They nod , Kgothatso's heart beats faster as she hears singing from the gate .

Kgothatso : so early ..

Kgothalo : oh its them .

She takes a deep breath tying the top thread and glancing at herself in the mirror .

Outside the Mofokeng family home, a group of elderly Zulu women gather, dressed in their traditional regalia, their faces etched with wisdom and experience. They lead the procession, singing and dancing as they go, their voices carrying the ancient songs of their ancestors. They carry traditional baskets filled with gifts and offerings for the ancestors, their hands moving in rhythmic motion as they make their way to the ceremony area.

Masentle : these people brought everything ..

MaMofokeng : the cows ?

Masentle : everything mama .

She smiles excitedly .

MaMofokeng : it's always a different type of feeling when one of my grandkids are getting married !

Masentle : and I'm happy you're here to experience all of that .

The Mofokeng family stand by the other side as the Ndlovu family stands by the other side with the gifts basket , each group competing with the other by singing loudly .

Kelebogile : lets go , are you ready ?

Kgothatso : I'm ready .

The five of them walk out as Kgothatso walks in the front .

As they walk out , his eyes fall on her ..

Mpiyakhe : ohh there's your wifey !

Samkele : goshh she looks so beautiful !

His heart skips a beat , she's wearing a beautiful, vibrant "mokorotlo" headscarf, intricately tied to cover her hair, with a few strategically placed strands framing her face.

Her "segwagwa" blouse is a work of art, adorned with colorful, hand-beaded designs that shimmer and shine in the light. The blouse is paired with a flowing "thapo" skirt, made from layers of colorful fabric, creating a stunning, flared effect.

Around her neck, she wears a traditional "dikheto" necklace, comprising multiple strands of colorful beads and cowry shells, symbolizing her status as a young woman. Her wrists are adorned with "bogwera" bracelets, made from colorful beads and wire, adding a touch of elegance to her overall look.

On her feet, she wears traditional "tsamma melora" sandals, made from soft, supple leather, adorned with intricate beading and stitching. Her toes are painted with red ochre .

Her makeup is subtle yet elegant, with a focus on enhancing her natural features. Her lips are painted with a reddish-brown hue, made from natural ingredients, adding a touch of warmth to her smile..

Mandlawenkosi : I think I might have chosen well .

Mpiyakhe : you don't need to think , you chose well vele , this is beauty in nature . What the **** ??

Mpiyakhe's wife rolls her eyes folding her arms ..

While the families sing , the Ndlovu family take over as Kgothatso stands infront of her own family .

Brenda : this girl is beautiful .

Gogo Manzini : she was made for Mandlawenkosi .

She smiles warmly glancing at Mandlawenkosi's mother who waves at her . Her mother holds her hand and she glances at her with a smile .

Masentle : Dad would've been so proud of you .

Kgothatso : I know .

Mandlawenkosi stands tall, dressed in his traditional attire , his eyes fixed on her only . Was she really made for him ?

Bab'Ndlovu : she's your wife .

Mandlawenkosi : ungumkami , angicabangi ukuthi ngake ngathandana kanjena . indalo enhle , isiphiwo esithunyelwe ngu Nkulunkulu engisithunyelelwe amadlozi . Ubuciko obuhle , ucezu lobuciko . A beautiful masterpiece , a piece of art . I love her face , even now .. I cannot even wait to hold her and tell her how beautiful she looks . Kgothatso is mine , I wouldn't want to experience this day with anyone else )

Bab'Ndlovu : you're inlove .

Mandlawenkosi : I plan on making her the happiest she's ever been .

He says still not removing his eyes from her , the women dressed in zulu attire placing the gifts by the other side still singing . Kgothalo wraps his arm around her shoulder ..

Kgothalo : (whispers) you may have chosen a beast , not that I'm glancing at how good looking he is , I'm not curved . But look at him ..

She smiles and moves her eyes to where Mandlawenkosi is standing , their eyes meet as she smiles beautifully ..
