SBANISENKOSI

I sit on the bear floor after vomiting. I don't know what's happening with me. I feel so weird. I hear the door opening and Christopher sitting besides me on the floor.

“Are you okay?” He asks. I shrug..

“I don't know, I don't feel good physically and emotionally.” I say swallowing my saliva. I feel like vomiting again.

“I think it's best we take a break from each other, we're bleeding on each other and I'm hurting because now I'm scared that I'll use your past to hurt you.” He says, I nod.

“You also don't trust me. I genuinely feel hurt because you shouted at me infront of your mother and brother. You grabbed my arm, you don't trust me.” I say showing him my arm, there's a red trace on it. He grabbed me painfully.

“I understand..” He says.

“I don't know how long this break is gonna be but I need it, I feel drained and you not trusting me nailed me down.” I say.

“I understand and I need you to know that I'm sorry.” He says, I glare at him. His eyes are red, he's holding in some tears.

“What are you gonna do about your dad?” I ask him, he sighs.

“Get him arrested, he didn't even show any remorse for anything he did. He obviously tried defending himself but..the proof was there and he confessed as well, twisted it a bit more.” He says, I nod.

“I just want you to know that I also see Luyanda at fault in all of this. She shouldn't have persuaded your dad even after i reprimanded her.” I say.

“I hate that this issue is involving us and now we're stuck in the middle.” He says.

“My a$$ hurts down here..” I say, he gets up and pulls me up.

“I'm gonna leave..” He says, I nod. He wraps his arms around me and I wrap mine around his waist.

“A break isn't a breakup, I just need us to move at a certain pace. In the short time that we've been together, we've overcome arguments and I want us to work on that.” He says.

“I'll try sorting out my own issues as well, I obviously need help.” I say pulling out of the hug and walking out as he follows me.

“Can you unblock me?” He asks, I shake my head.

“The blocking is part of the break..” I say and I hear him release a soft chuckle. I sit on the bed and glare at him.

“Does space also mean we don't meet?” I ask him, he shrugs.

“Depends on who misses who first and drives to their place.” He says, I chuckle softly.

“Okay.” I say, he leans over and plants a kiss on my lips. Before he even steps back, I grab his tshirt and kiss him again. I know what I want but I can't have it right now. I pull out of the kiss and glare at him.

“Even if I wanted to have séx with you right now or make love. I can't, I'm on my period.” I say, he nods.

“Let me go nurse my broken heart..” He says, I chuckle and watch as he walks out. Once I hear the door close, I lay on my bed and heave a sigh.. today has been a lot.
.
.
The following day, I wake up. I'm not really looking forward to today because I'm gonna stay in. I decided to take some time off work, my team will complete the Biyela project because I just can't right now.

I just took a shower, I don't understand my period these days. The bl**d is a bit lighter than usual and I haven't had any heavy flow. This is weird..

I put on my shorts and oversized tee. I also put on my socks and walk to my lounge. I grab a couple of snacks and grab the TV remote. I sit on the couch and turn on the TV.

Luckily, I haven't heard from Christopher and I'm glad to see that we're taking this seriously. If we want this to work then we should work on ourselves. I managed to talk to Luyanda yesterday and I told her how I felt about her doing what she did after Mbali did what she did.

My door bell rings, I hope it's not anyone who's going to interrogate me or something. I walk to the door and open, what theee??

“Sbani..” Mrs Biyela says standing on the door step with some food package in her hand.

“Mrs Biyela..” I say, what is she doing here though?

“Can I come in? i felt the need to come here after what happened yesterday.” She says. I nod and let her in, I decide to leave the door open because it's hot even though the AC is on.

“You have a very beautiful place..” She says.

“Thank you.” I say leading her to my lounge, she takes a seat and places the food package on the mini table.

“You didn't go to work?” She asks, I shake my head.

“I'm not feeling quite well so I decided to take some time off.” I say sitting besides her.

“I'm sorry for what happened yesterday..” She says, I shrug.

“Whatever happened, happened.” I say.

“I know my husband, I've been with him for years and I can see right through him. I saw he was guilty and what hurts is that because he raised Nkanyezi and Nkanyiso with so much respect and love. It would obviously feel like a lie to them after hearing something like that.” She says.

“I'm glad that someone actually believed me without misunderstanding me.” I say.

“How's your friend?” She asks.

“She's okay. She's coping and I know she's also wrong in all of this. She was wrong in approaching your husband.” I say.

“He won't be my husband anytime soon, I'm divorcing Lincoln.” She says, I keep quiet. I genuinely have nothing to say.

“Did you manage to talk to Christopher?” She asks, i nod.

“We didn't quite talk, he just proceeded to ask for a break. I have my own issues to deal with and maybe this break will help me.” I say, been looking for some private therapy sessions.

“So you're not together as of now?” She asks, I nod.

“We're not together.” I say.

“You're actually the first woman Christopher has brought home. As you youngsters say, I'm a sucker for love.” She says, I chuckle a bit.

“Did he tell you I'm not his biological mother?” She asks, I nod.

“He told me, took me by surprise because I thought you were his biological mother.” I say.

“I'ts hard to tell but they're both my sons and I'd go to any lengths for them.” She says, she's an amazing woman who happened to marry a bastárd.

“I hear you..” I say.

“I brought you some food, I don't know if you had already eaten breakfast or..” She says, I shake my head.

“I haven't eaten..” I say.

“Okay I have a couple of stuff here and Nkanyezi told me you don't eat certain stuff so I kept that in mind.” She says.

“I just need you to note that should I ever have to stay in your house for a specific reason. I won't cook because I cannot cook to even save my life.” I say, she glares at me.

“Hauu? you'll have to make a plan because if Nkanyezi marries you then the three foot, the big black pot is waiting for you.” She says, I shake my head.

“Don't do that to me, blame my mother because she treated me like a baby.” I say.

“If she treated you like a baby then I'll treat you like a woman, you're gonna be my first son's first wife so...you must learn how to cook.” She says, haa?

“May the spirit of marriage not locate me, not ready to cook yoh.” I say, she laughs.

“Let me dish up for you..familiarize myself with your kitchen.” She says standing up and walking to the kitchen. I miss Nkanyezi lordddd..
