Yeah no, Shaka is going to murder me, I was supposed to be ready like 2 hours ago, but here I am, struggling to zip this fuckin' dress up, I swear to God this is the part of motherhood that nobody warned me about, the part during post partum where my boobs are just bigger and I can't find a suitable dress for a new mom bod, the dresses I have here are either way too revealing or too tight, I don't want to wear pants either.

Okay, that's it.

I am not going anywhere, I laid my head on the bed and shut my eyes.

"Babe!"
Me: Bedroom!

He walked in.
Shaka: And then? Peach you're not even dressed! Babe we have a date remember?
Me: I can't find anything to wear baba kaMJ.

He assessed the whole room, it was a mess, I tried on every dress I owned and none of them did what I wanted them to.
Me: So, I'm not going.
Shaka: Because I know you too well, I figured you'd say that, come.
Me: Come where?
Shaka: Woza.

I sat up and it was only then that I realised that he was carrying a dress in his arms.
Shaka(smiles): I know you miss fussy.
Me(laughs): I am not fussy!
Shaka(laughs): Oh really? You were about to cancel date night because you couldn't find a dress to wear.
Me(laughs): It's not funny, baby.
Shaka(smiles): You're lucky I am in love with you.

I smiled and got up and prepared to get dressed in the dress he bought.
Me(gasps): Baby!
Shaka(smiles): I cleared your cart.
Me(excitedly): I can see that! Thank you baby!
Shaka: It's a pleasure sthandwa sami, now please get dressed, we will be late for our reservation.
Me: Okay, where did you say we were going again?
Shaka: At the Southern Sun Elangeni & Maharani Durban beachfront hotel, we will be spending the night there.
Me: Oh wow that sounds exciting baby, and what about the kids?
Shaka: We are taking Thuli with us, I booked us a penthouse.
Me(smiles): Aren't you the best baby daddy in the world.
Shaka: Mmh that sounds really weird.

I laughed, he helped me with the zip at the back.
Me: Really?
Shaka: Yes, 'best husband in the world' would sound even better.

I just laughed as he helped me with the shoes, after we were done I did some touch ups on my hair and makeup and we were done, I didn't look bad at all.
Shaka(smiles): You look stunning baby.
Me(smiles): I am fat.
Shaka: Baby you've just had a baby, like 3 months ago, don't rush the process, besides I love you like this, if I had my way you'd remain like this but I know you'll be returning to the gym soon.

I laughed, he's right, I'm returning to gym next month, I don't like my mom bod at all, my son deserves a hot mommy.
Me: Okay I'm all done, we can leave now, baby.
Shaka: You haven't kissed me.
Me(giggles): I'm sorry baby, come.

We shared a kiss and then took a few mirror selfies and walked out of the bedroom.
Shaka: Thuli!
Thuli: Yes sir.
Shaka: It's time to go, let me help you with this little fella, where's Snakho?
Snakho: I'm here daddy, ooh mommy you look nice.
Me(smiles): Thank you my little princess! You look gorgeous as well!
Snakho(smiles): Thank you!
Shaka: Okay, okay let's move good people.

We walked out of the house and I locked the door and set the necessary alarms as we went inside the car, Thuli took MJ from Shaka as we got in since he was driving, we drove straight to the Southern Sun hotel, in no time we had arrived, we checked in and went to our penthouse.

Me: Baby, what time is our reservation?
Shaka: In the next 10 minutes, why?
Me: Nothing, I was just asking.
Shaka: Okay Thuli, you guys can order room service, we will see you soon, Snakho please behave.
Snakho: I always behave, mom tell him.

I laughed as I kissed MJ's pouty lips, I went to kiss Snakho as well.
Me: Bye kids!
Thuli(smiles): Take lots and lots of pictures.
Me(winks): You know I will!

Shaka held my hand and we went to the elevator. As soon as the elevator closed, he pinned me on the wall and kissed the living daylights out of me, gosh that was so hot!
Shaka(smiles): I couldn't resist.
Me(giggles): You are so unhinged!!
Shaka: You love me like that.
Me(smiles): I do, baby.

The elevator opened to the restaurant and a waiter came to us. Shaka told him about our reservation and he led us to our table. He opened the chair for me and I sat down and so did he, opposite me.

There's nothing I always look forward to more than date night especially with Shaka's busy schedule, we hardly spend quality time together so we introduced date night every Wednesdays, where it's just us without our friends.

This is the first date night we are having ever since we welcomed MJ 3 months ago, you know tradition, I wasn't allowed out of the house with MJ until he turned 3 full months.

5 years later, where do I even begin? Well 5 years ago, I made a decision to return to school, I enrolled for a Public Management course majoring in Social Media and Brand Management, Shaka graduated and was offered a job in the government as part of their cyber security, protecting the government from any cyber attack while also being part of the secret agency as well.

Thandokuhle, Mom and Siyakha joined us in Durban as well, Thandokuhle continued with her second year, mom and Aunty Mandisa started their own catering and cake business, later on the year, Aunty Mandisa and Uncle Thembinkosi tied the knot.

The following year, I was doing my second year and I was thriving actually, Ndalo and Lindani tied the knot, they also welcomed their first child together, third year, Tumelo proposed to Thandokuhle at her graduation party, 4th year they tied the knot, Sean proposed to his girl on the same year, I graduated as well and got an offer at Samsung to be part of their Social Media management team which required me to travel the world a lot, my first international trip was in South Korea where Samsung is originally from.

When I returned I decided it was time for me to pay my dues. I had promised Shaka a child and I felt like I was ready for it, so I had my IUD removed and he wasn't even aware so I surprised him with the pregnancy news on his 27th birthday.

Mom got married again as well, Sean and his girlfriend tied the knot and very soon Lungelo will be tying the knot as well.

Nothing brings me joy than seeing my friends growing up and becoming responsible adults, it still feels like yesterday when I met them all back in varsity, now they are grown young men who are working, they have their own houses and cars, they have children and wives, some are engaged, it really is beautiful to witness.

After dinner, Shaka and I decided to take a walk on the beach. It was around 8pm and the view of the beach during this time of the night was beautiful.
Me: I really needed this, I feel like I haven't been outside for a while.
Shaka(smiles): You haven't been outside in 4 months, baby.
Me: Jesus that long?
Shaka: Yeah, how is motherhood by the way?
Me(smiles): It's the best hood I've ever lived in. I enjoyed raising Snakho but I feel like she was a practice for me, for actual motherhood, MJ is just the best.
Shaka(smiles): He really is, baby.
Me: Thank you for doing this life thing with me babe.
Shaka(smiles): Are you kidding me? There's nobody else I'd rather do it with, the past 6 years with you have been nothing but amazing.
Me: Including the first year?

We laughed.
Shaka: The first year was filled with life lessons sthandwa sami, the years that followed after were a breeze.
Me(smiles): I know.
Shaka: I love you so much, do you know that?
Me(smiles): I am well aware baby.
Shaka: And I'm sorry it has taken me this long to ask you this question…
Me(confused): What question baby?
Shaka: There it is.

He pointed at the hotel building and it went dark for a few seconds and then a message popped up:
"Peach, will you marry me?"

Me(shocked): Oh my God! Babe when—

He was kneeling on the sand with the most beautiful ring I've ever seen, oh my God, this was really happening?

Shaka(smiles): I've been carrying this carrying with me everywhere I go for the past 3 months, just waiting for the perfect moment to ask you this question, which is weird because I've known I wanted you in my life for the long term from the day I walked in on you crying in my mother's arms after those bastards mugged you, from thereon I knew that my life would only be complete with you in it, Ntandokazi Ngema, I've loved you from the moment I laid my eyes on you and 6 years later I still feel the same if not more, so will you please make me the happiest man in the world, will you marry me? Do this life thing with me forever!

Me(screams): Yes!!!

He slid the ring on my finger and got on his feet and spun me around, I was so emotional! I looked at the building and it said, 'She said Yes!' and the fireworks began lighting up the sky.

Me(crying): I can't believe this is finally happening, you had me worried there a bit.

He laughed.
Shaka: I know, it was definitely intentional.
Me(laughs): Mxm! Only you could do that! I love you.
Shaka: I love you too Mrs Miya!
Me: I should have gotten the hint when you said that 'best baby daddy in the world' didn't sound good anymore.

We laughed.
Shaka: In your defence, you have a mom brain now.
Me(laughs): Oh wow, you're mom shaming me now?
Shaka(laughs): That's not even a word.

I laughed and kissed his lips.

Shaka shook me a little and I opened my eyes, he was dressed in his work gear.
Me: What time is it baby?
Shaka: It's late, close to 11pm, we've just been called in, it's an emergency baby, I'm sorry.
Me: I hate your job.
Shaka(smiles): I hate it too, sometimes, I'll be back before you know it though, these things usually last for about 4 hours you know that.
Me: Okay, please be careful, I want you back safe and sound Shaka, no excuses.
Shaka: Yes ma'am.

He kissed my lips.
Shaka: I love you so much.
Me(smiles): I love you too baby.
Shaka: See you in a minute.
Me(laughs): Don't say that, she never came back after she said that.
Shaka(laughs): I'm sorry baby, go back to sleep.
Me: Okay.

He kissed me one last time and then grabbed his bag and walked out, leaving me with a heavy heart. I kissed MJ's forehead and went back to sleep.

I don't even think I was asleep for that long when I suddenly felt a cold breeze bouncing around the room. I slowly opened my eyes and looked around, I realised that the sliding door leading to the balcony was wide open.

As to how? I had no idea, I was about to get out of bed when I realised that MJ wasn't next to me, could Thuli have taken him while I was asleep? I don't think so, MJ sleeps with me and if he was crying, I would have heard him.

I turned the lights on and went to close the sliding door. I was about to wear my slippers to go to Thuli's room when I heard the door slam shut. I looked up and got the fright of my life.

Me(shocked): Snethemba??
Snethemba: Oh hey there.
Me: What are you doing here and why are you carrying my son?
Snethemba: This feels like a full circle moment doesn't it? Remember that day when you came into my home and took my child away from me?

I swallowed, she looked awful, her face was still the same if not worse by the way which made her really scary, I haven't heard from this girl in years, she hasn't even tried to fetch her kid, Snakho does visit her maternal home, she has a great relationship with her maternal grandparents and aunts and uncles, Snethemba just sort of gave up on the child.

Me: So what is this? Revenge? You're here to take my child?
Snethemba: Your child? No! I'm not as heartless as you my love, that's your style, I am here though to take something from you, something that you took from me years ago, I know life for you lately has been really great, so great that you had even forgotten about someone called Karma.
Me: Karma deals with people who've wronged other people, I've never wronged anyone, especially not you.
Snethemba: Oh really? Did you not take the father of my child away from me? Did you not take my child from me? Did you not take my life away from me? My face?

Me(laughs): I see you're still delusional, still believing your own lies, you're still stupid as you were 5 years ago! And honestly I'm not doing this with you, I'm calling security right now!

I was about to reach for the phone when she pulled out a gun, now y'all know guns are my weakness, I don't play when it comes to guns.

Me(gasps): Snethemba…
Snethemba: Not so pompous now aren't you? I'll have you know that it is loaded and I can use it, one wrong move, I'll put a bullet through little Prime's head over here, is that what you want?

I shook my head vigorously, not trusting my own voice.
Snethemba: I'm going to put the baby down and you better not try anything, do you hear me?

I nodded as she placed MJ back on the bed and supported him with the blankets so that he doesn't turn and fall. He is 3 months old. He can't turn yet on his own but you get the point.

She got closer to me and I moved back.
Snethemba: I have been waiting for this day for a long time, I could have came during all those nights when Prime wasn't at home, and you were heavily pregnant, but I didn't want to hurt Prime that much, He didn't do anything wrong to me neither did the child you were carrying, so I waited, waited till you gave birth, I waited till he proposed so that you'd at least die known as Shaka Manqoba Miya's wife to be, and not just his babymama, thoughtful right?

Me(emotional): Snethemba, please don't do this, you don't have to do this!
Snethemba: All of this should have been mine! I should be the one wearing his ring, I should be the one with his second child, a son, he should be coming home every night to me! But you!!

She pointed the gun at me and I felt my knees getting weak.
Snethemba: You stole all that away from me!!

Me(crying): Snethemba we both know that's not true!! That is not true! You just find it easy to blame me but you know deep down that's not true! I did not take Shaka from you! He was single! Yes he had people he was fucking with but you were not one of them when we started dating! I know that I seem like the easy target but I am also the wrong target! I have never wronged you Snethemba!

Snethemba: LIAR!!!

She snapped, shooting the sliding door behind me and the glass shattered on the floor. I hope it was enough to wake Thuli up so that she can figure out that I'm in danger and call for help.

Snethemba walked closer to me and I had to step on the broken glasses and they were hurting me.
Me(crying): Snethemba, please! Please don't do this! There has to be another way for us to resolve this! I will leave okay? I will leave Prime and I will never return! You can have him! The two of you can build your family! Just please let me go! Please Snethemba! If you kill me he will hunt you down and kill you!

Snethemba: I don't care, you'll be dead as well, I'll actually rest peacefully!
Me(begging): Snethemba, I am begging you!
Snethemba: So…you can beg miss 'high and mighty'? Never figured you as the type!
Me: Things are different now okay? I am a mother and that changes you okay? My son is just 3 months old and he needs me! Don't take me away from him!
Snethemba: Ntando I don't care! I don't care at all! I wouldn't even care even if he was 3 days old! But you know, mother to mother, I will let you say your final goodbyes to him, I'm giving you 10 seconds, try anything funny, I will end you!

She was still pointing the gun at me, I slowly walked to the bed, tears blinding me, I held MJ in my arms and the tears just wouldn't stop falling.

I never imagined what my death would be like. I think, deep down, I always knew I wouldn't live long. Maybe it was the way life kept testing me, the way I brushed against death more times than anyone should.

I thought surviving all those moments meant I was meant to stay—that somehow fate had chosen me to keep fighting.

But I was wrong.

Death doesn't always come with warning or mercy. It comes quietly, cruelly, and sometimes… from the hands of someone you never even wronged. I never thought jealousy would be the reason my heart would stop. I never thought love twisted with envy would be the thing that finally ended me.

I looked at MJ and he was sleeping peacefully, he had no idea that his mother that he barely had time with was about to die.

He slept in my arms, but in the next few hours, he was about to wake up to his world turned upside down, not even his father would get here in time to save me like he had always done in the past, I could see the angel death lurking in the shadows, he had come for me, when I least expected him, when I had found a reason to live.

Me(crying): I'm sorry.
Snethemba; Okay your 10 seconds are up!
Me(crying): Snethemba please….
Snethemba: Put him down or you're both going down!

I kissed his forehead and placed him down.
Me(whispering): I'm sorry baby, I love you okay?

I raised my hands in the air.
Me: Shoot me.
Snethemba(smiles): There she is…
Me(screams): I SAID SHOOT ME!

She laughed.
Snethemba: I will shoot you b**** don't rush me!
Me: Do it now, Shaka is on his way, so you might want to hurry it up! And you better make sure you shoot to kill because if you don't? And I get a chance to get my hands on you, I will kill you!!
Snethemba(spooked): Ooh that's so scary! Did you take that from some movie?

I swallowed.

I threw the head lamp at her and she dropped the gun. I rushed to her and grabbed her, smashing her against the wall. She groaned in pain and tried to reach for the gun. I kicked it very far and grabbed the electrical cord of the head lamp and rolled it around her neck tightly.

If I was going to die, I wasn't going to die without a fight, in fact I was taking this bitch with me to hell!

She grabbed the handle of the lamp, and hit me with it, it broke on me and actually cut me which forced me to let go of my hold around her neck. She kicked me with her elbow on the jaw and got up and started kicking me, repeatedly.

Snethemba: You are not going to win this one Ntando! I promise you won't!! Do you hear me?

She grabbed the flat screen on the table and started hitting me with it on my face, I used my arms as a shield, she hit me on my arms repeatedly until she couldn't anymore, she threw it away and got on top of me, she was about to throw a punch, but I rolled her over and I was on top of her and punched her like I was possessed!

Me: Who's winning now bitch?? Who's fuckin' winning?? Who the hell did you think you were huh? Do you know how many times I've faced death? Do you know how many times I've stared at death in the eye?? And you thought you'd finally be the one who kills me? Who the fuck are you??

I grabbed the flat-screen and pressed it on her neck and watched as she struggled between life and death, trying to push me off her.

Me: This is going to be the legacy you leave behind for your daughter? That you died because of a man that you didn't want when he still wanted you? Huh??
Snethemba(coughs): I am not… the one who's dying here tonight!!

I felt something stab me on the side of my stomach, I fell on the other side while holding on to the wound, I felt dizzy, she had a knife in her hands.

Snethemba(breathless): I am not the one who's dying here tonight b****! You are!!

She weakly got up and someone was banging on the door.
Thuli: Ntando!!!
Me(coughing): Thuli! Call Shaka!! Call for help!!

I tried to crawl to the door but she stabbed me at the back of my thigh and I screamed in agony as I fell on my back, she stabbed me again at the front and then pulled me by my leg.

Snethemba: There's no getting out of this Ntando!!! Come here!!

She pulled me out of the room and into the balcony area, I could hear MJ crying, Thuli banging on the door as Snethemba dragged me across the shattered pieces of the sliding door, I grabbed one of the pieces and stabbed Snethemba on her eye, and she screamed in agony while I tried to get up which was a mission because she had stabbed me on the leg and thigh, I tried to crawl back inside the room as fast as I could but the shattered glasses on the floor were making it very hard.

Snethemba(screams): You stupid b****! First it was my face and now it's my eye!!

She roared and rushed to the electric cord and wrapped it around my neck. I tried to put my hands in between my neck and the cord to minimize the pain and damage being inflicted by the cord but I was weak, I was struggling to breathe, or to keep my eyes open.

I could see the gun, even though I am terrified of guns, I was prepared to use it at this point and I think she saw where I was trying to reach.

Snethemba: No, you don't!!

She grabbed the gun first and I held on to her, trying to prevent her from pointing it at me. She was trying to get up, pulling me in the process. She had it pointed at my neck but I was still fighting it, blocking it with my hands.

She removed it from my neck, I was trying to take it away from her, but then as we were still wrestling with it, it went off.

[SHAKA PRIME MIYA]
I got Thuli's distress call about them being under attack, luckily we had finished our mission, so we were just getting ready to leave anyway.

I called the hotel manager and asked him to send security in my penthouse while I drove there like a maniac. I was with Sean, Lungelo and Lindani.

Sean(shocked): Oh no!!
Me: What? Sean what do you see?

He couldn't even speak, Lindani grabbed the tablet from him and also gasped.
Me(getting emotional): Lindani what the hell is wrong? What the hell is wrong!! Tell me!!

He just threw the tablet out of the window and didn't respond to me, whatever it was, must have been bad, but I refused to give up, so I drove there at the hotel as fast as I could, by the time we had arrived, people were out of their rooms, outside with their phones, taking videos of…

Me(shaking my head): No, no, no!! Peach!!!!

She was hanging on to one of the rails in the balcony, about to fall off any minute, now you have to understand, our room was on the very top floor, if she fell from there, she…

We heard a loud a bang and she let go of the rail and everyone gasped. I felt people holding me back, trying to shield my face from seeing.

Me(screaming): NO! LET ME GO!! PEACH!! NTANDO!!!

I wiggled my way out of their grip and there was a loud thud on top of one of the cars, with my eyes blurry, I ran there, hoping and praying that I hadn't seen well earlier and that it wasn't Peach and it was someone else.

I reached the car and my knees felt weak, it was her, bruised, bloody, shot at and stabbed.

Me(crying): No, no, no!! Peach please don't do this!! SOMEBODY HELP!!

I climbed on top of the car and she was still alive, barely, I didn't know whether to pick her up or not, the way she lay there still, suggested I shouldn't.

Me(crying): Peach, baby come on, don't do this to me! Don't do this!! SOMEBODY HELP!!

I could hear the police sirens and the ambulance, I held her hand, I was losing my mind, when I stared into her eyes, I saw it, but I refused to believe it.

Me(crying): You're going to be okay, you're going to be okay baby! I promise!

She was not.

But how do I tell her that? How do I tell her that this time, I had failed to do my job? How do I tell her that we weren't going to cheat death this time?

She tried to say something but she couldn't, everytime she did, she coughed up blood.

Me(crying): Don't say anything Peach, don't say anything, help is on the way, you're going to be okay! You're going to be okay!
Peach: Shaka…

I burst out crying while shaking my head.
Me(crying): Don't… don't say anything, Peach please!!!

Tears dropped on her face.
Peach: Shaka… I don't… I don't want to die.
Me(crying): You're not going to die!! Peach you're not going to die sthandwa sami, oh God!!
Peach: I don't…

She shook her head and was choked by her own blood in her mouth.
Peach: I don't…(breathing heavily)

She started hyperventilating, it was the scariest thing I had ever witnessed.

I closed my eyes and bit my lower lip.
Peach: Please don't let me… die.
Me(crying): You're not going to die Peach!

The ambulance arrived, she was struggling to talk now, like she was losing her breath.
Peach: I don't want to die… please save me.
Me(crying): Don't talk okay? The ambulance is here, you'll be okay, you'll be okay baby, I promise, PLEASE HURRY!!!

She shook her head, struggling to keep her eyes open, her hand became cold.

I felt her pulse and it was gone.

Me(screaming): PEACH NO!!!!!

I felt someone remove me from her but I didn't want to be removed from her.

Me(crying): BRING HER BACK!!! BRING HER BACK!! RESUSCITATE HER!! DO NOT GIVE UP ON HER PLEASE!! SHE'S NOT DEAD!!

Sean(crying): I'm so sorry man, she's gone! Prime, she's gone!!
Me(crying): No, she's not!! Sean she's not!! Resuscitate her!!! She's not dead!!

Deep down I knew she was dead, I knew she was but I couldn't accept it, there was no way that she was going to survive from that fall.

Paramedic: I am sorry sir, she's gone.

I shook my head.
Lindani: Prime, Prime, she's gone!!

My head was spinning, these people that were here weren't making the situation better, they were just standing there with their phones out, taking videos of the whole scene!

Me(crying): How could you be so heartless? That's someone's child out there and you are just standing there taking pictures and videos of her???
Police: People get back into your rooms, this is a crime scene!
Lindani: Confiscate their phones! All of them!
Man: On who's authority?
Brandon: The House Of Pain Agents, a secret government agency! Confiscate all their phones!!

I struggled to breathe.

I walked away from them, I ran to my car and drove off, I don't know how many cars I ducked on the road.

Me(crying): Snethemba…

I stepped on the car hard, I could see my team from afar trying to catch up with me.

Me: Snethemba…

I didn't even bother getting out of the car, I crashed through the gate when I got there, which alarmed the whole house. I pulled the passenger seat up, and pulled out all my guns. I tucked two of them behind my waist as everyone got out of their houses and their rooms.

Mr Ngwazi: Yes hello, some drunk driver just drove through our—

I got out of the car, some screamed.
Mr Ngwazi: Shaka?
Me: SNETHEMBA!!
Mrs Ngwazi(praying): Nkulunkulu wami sivikele—

I shot her on the head and everyone scattered all over the yard.

Me(screaming): SNETHEMBA!!!

I started shooting at everyone and everything on my way! Every elder and every infant in that yard, including the dogs that were barking, making noise!

I was on a rampage, I got inside every room, looking for any survivors so that I would kill them as well, I wanted to wipe her entire clan! How could she do this? What did Peach ever do to her?

Lindani: Prime, Prime, you need to—
Me: If you dare get any closer to me, I will forget who you are and I will pull this trigger!
Lungelo: Prime, I know you're hurt but—
