UNGENO: MY SISTER’S HUSBAND

CHAPTER 20

NARRATOR.

The air inside Mabutho and Amanda's house feels like it's standing still — heavy with tension and sharp enough to cut. Everyone is seated around the long dining table, trying to act normal, but their eyes betray them. Qhawe's jaw keeps twitching as he glares at Neliswa and Qhawekazi from across the table. The way he's looking at them — as if he could pull out his gun and end it all right here — makes even MaZwane uncomfortable.

Mabutho sits at the head of the table, a silent storm brewing behind his eyes. He's trying to hold it together, but the moment Neliswa opens her mouth, the atmosphere drops even lower.
