CHAPTER 12

SNEAKY LINK

Endy choked on her sobs rocking herself back and forth all this was just making her miss her mother. Why would Mandilakhe do her like this.

She put her hand over her mouth trying to hold it in but it just became harder to breathe the lump on her throat getting bigger and bigger.

She put her face on the pillow and released a gut drenching sob, making her body shake.

She held on to her heart feeling as if it was being lodged on continuously with a knife.

"God p...pl.. please make it stop...why me? Please."

She cried harder unable to breathe. She could feel the walls closing in on her. The splitting headache had her dizzy and it became dark as she fainted.

Meanwhile Mandilakhe parked outside his house. He lost her, he could feel it. How was he going to survive without her in his life?

He smiled recalling the time she'd told him to wait and build a name for himself before opening his own firm.

He had asked the same question to Nobantu and she didn't even know how to answer him. Maybe if he had thought of this sooner he wouldn't be here.

The front door opened and there she was walking like a zombie penguin towards his car. He locked the doors and closed his eyes turning everything off in his head.

Nobantu walked to the car feeling her blood boiling. He banged on the window but her husband didn't even flinch.

She looked around and saw a brick by the verandah she felt slight pains on her abdomen and grunted and stopped walking trying to reduce them.

It stopped and she peddled to the car smashing the window and the brick landed on Mandilakhe's chest. He coughed and turned to look at her with rage.

"What the **** is wrong with you? Do you have the money to fix this car? Nx bloody ugly illiterate."

He walked out of the car clicking his tongue before walking inside the house leaving her standing there.

Nobantu sobbed sitting on the stoop outside. What has she gotten herself into? She took her phone and called her aunt.

"Nono mntanam."

"Aunty he's hurting me?"

"Did he beat you?"

"No aunty he took me to his friends place only to find out he has a girlfriend. The girl was angry and she left he went after her aunty leaving me with his friends. I had to take a Uber home and now he just got here after work leaving for hours when I tried talking to him he called me ugly and illiterate."

He aunt sighed on the other line. She had told this girl to not rush.

"I told you way before you got pregnant that, that man probably has a hundred girlfriends. Handsome man like him are like that and Nono you should be grateful that he saw you worthy to be his wife kaloku sana lwam we both know that you're not beautiful you're just light skinned I'm sorry but it's the truth you just have to find a way to enhance your beauty and don't ever question your husband be grateful he came home some man don't even bother coming home."

"But aunty I..."

"Nono you chose to get married deal with your marriage and don't ever involve friends on your marriage even your sister are we clear?"

"Ewe aunty."

"Good now go and take care of your husband."

She dropped the call and breathed out before getting up and walking inside the house. She found her mother inlaw engrossed on the tv.

She was sure she had everything but she didn't seem to care. She walked up the stairs to her bedroom.

She sat on the bed and waited for him to come out of the bathroom. He came out dripping wet. She swallowed looking away from him.

"I'm sorry about the way I reacted earlier. I was just angry that you left me there with your friends and went after her. I know that you had a life before me."

"I'm sorry too for letting my friends say mean things about you. I love you and I married you because I know you'll complement me. I should've broken up with her a long time ago but she's crazy. I'm even scared that she'll try and do something bad to you."
