Chapter 33

I slept alone in our bedroom but woke up to his big brown eyes glued to my face. I was so startled; I almost fell off the bed.
"What the hell!?" I screamed. He pulled my hand, laughing out loud like this was some joke.

He continued to laugh until I did.
Me: Don't do that again!
Jama: why?
Me: You scared me.
Jama: I'm sorry.
Me: It's okay. I need to go to work.
Jama: I was hoping to spend the day with you. Go to the beach and have a picnic.
Me: We can't. I have work.
Jama: This weekend?
Me: Jama, stop. Stop pretending we're okay.
He held my hand.
Jama: hey. What's wrong? Are we not?
I pulled back my arm and headed straight to the shower.
