TWO QUEENS IN MY CASTLE 16

YOLANDA

We're back from the graveyard and I'm just glad all this is over. I know there's still a long way to go but at least it's a step to healing for Kabelo. Thandeka is in the kitchen, preparing drinks for the elders who were sitting on the mattress.

"Makoti, do you need a hand?" I'm only saying this to mock her. As hurt as Kabelo is, she's using this time to worm her way into his pants. I love Kabelo but I won't take advantage of his weakness like Thandeka is doing.

"Exuse me?" She pretends she didn't hear me or maybe she's confused.

"Do you need a hand with serving drinks for your inlaws?" I step closer to her, taking the napkin and wiping the tray.

"My inlaws? What's that supposed to mean?"

"Oh come on. I know you and Kabelo are an item and I'm happy for you."

"Not at all. We're just friends for now and I won't push him. He's going through a lot," she says. I don't believe her for a second but I won't stand here and argue. One thing I'll do is continue supporting Kabelo without taking advantage of his pain. When he's ready, he'll tell me which way we need to take to move forward after he confessed his love for me.

"I know Kabelo loves you. I've noticed how he gets when he mentions you but that doesn't mean I'll back down. He's a good man and I also have feelings for him," she says.

"I know. I'm just glad we're not pulling each other's hair for a man," we both laugh. I'm not intimidated by her and I hope Kabelo will make a decision soon because we can't both be in the picture for long. She holds the jug of juice while I take the tray of glasses. Kabelo is in the room, speaking with his aunt. I'm about to leave the room when he holds my hand. Thandeka gives us a look before walking out.

"Can we talk?" He softly whispers.

"Sure," I lead the way outside.

"I didn't get a chance to explain myself when you found Thandeka and I in the bedroom yesterday."

"It's okay, Kabelo. I know you like her too."

"I don't want to ruin my chances with you and I also can't ignore her. Please just give me some time to get through my mother's death and we'll talk. Don't ghost me."

"Why do you think I'll ghost you? I'm not bitter and you know it."

"I really hope you two are getting along and you're not doing it to get back at each other," he says.

"I'm not a child. Take your time to heal but just know that I won't wait forever. Especially if I'm going to be second best," I turn and walk away. I really hope he finds himself but I doubt that'll be soon because Ora still has a confession to make that'll turn his world upside down.

DUMISANI

Thandeka hasn't come home in two days. She said she's attending a funeral and is going to sleep at her mom's place. I decided to go check on her after midday. There are still quite a number of people and I know I won't easily find her so I give her a call while my car is parked across the road. I was fortunate to find a parking spot closer to the house. I dial her and she takes her time to answer.

"Dumisani I can't talk I'm still busy," she says.

"I'm outside."

"Outside? You didn't tell me that you're coming," she sounds disappointed.

"I didn't know I have to announce every time I need to see my woman. Are you coming or not?"

"Give me a minute," she ends the call. I turn on the radio but keep the volume low. She gets into the car and doesn't say anything. I'm a jealous boyfriend and it doesn't sit well with me that she's this beautiful in a place full of men.

"You look beautiful," I rub her shoulder.

"I'm always beautiful but thank you. So why are you here? Did you think I was lying about my whereabouts like you always do?"

"Exuse me?"

"You know exactly what I'm talking about. You and I know you're seeing someone else but that doesn't even bother me because you can clearly see that our thing is going nowhere fast."

"What do you mean it's not going anywhere? I thought you and I are building something solid here," I'm confused.

"Solid? With all the emotional abuse I've been getting lately, forget it," she laughs mocking me.

"Oh so you've already found someone? Is he here?" I'm ready to jump out of the car and find him when I see Yolanda walking towards my car. I swallow hard, hoping she's headed past me because this will just mess up everything for me. I'm not in good terms with both of them and I don't know why didn't think of the possibility of Yolanda being here. I can be stupid sometimes.

I try to keep my head down but that's useless because she knows my car and she has already seen me. She knocks on my window and I lower it.

"What the f*ck?" She keeps a serious face.

"Umm...I can explain," I step out of the car and Thandeka does too.

"What's going on? Yolanda?" Asks Thandeka

"No it's this man over here. Who the hell do you think you are, Dumisani?" Yolanda points at me, her finger almost touching my forehead.

"Wait. Don't tell me that Dumisani is stringing us along?" Thandeka's jaw drops.

"Ask him. The nerve of even coming here when we're in the same place. What were you trying to achieve?"

"It wasn't my intention to do this. I didn't know you'd be here, Yolanda. Thandeka baby let's talk about this," a slap lands on my cheek before I can say anything further. Yolanda grabs me by my belt and gets my back against the car while Thandeka presses her knee on my balls. Mind you, people are watching but no one is willing to come to my aid. The pain is unbearable that I involuntary let the tears out.

"Help me. Anyone," I cry for help.

"If you don't know what to do with your d*ck, we'll kindly cut it off for you," says Thandeka.

"Here's what's going to happen. You'll get into your car and drive without looking back. The next time I see you won't be this pleasant," Yolanda threatens. She slaps the cap off my bald head while Thandeka slaps me again.

"F*ck off," Yolanda says and they both walk away, leaving me in pains.
