TWO QUEENS IN MY CASTLE 11

KABELO

I couldn't sleep last night, I couldn't even look Oratilwe in the eye. She has been knocking on my bedroom door for hours but I just couldn't talk to her because I knew I'd lose it and lay my hand on her. My father was a very respected man around here and he carried himself in a way that other men envied him. He raised us to be the best versions of ourselves so I fail to understand why Oratilwe is acting this way. I never said she shouldn't have a boyfriend but redflag number 1 was dating someone who's much older than her.

Bringing him to my father's yard to do the deed was the last disrespect that I was willing to see from him. The man doesn't see me and he never did. I know he's older than me bit it would have been great to get some sort of respect from him if he really cared about my sister. I mean the man was already in school by the time my sister was born, what's wrong with approaching his age mates.

The sun is up now and I didn't sleep a wink. I'm not sure how I'm going to continue my day with all the things going through my mind. I need to get up and bathe my mother before anything else. One thing I didn't want to do is face Ora this morning but this house is too small to avoid her. She's already dressed up for school and I should have woken up a few minutes later.

"Abuti," she continues to annoy me. If Ma found out about this she'd just get more sick.

"Not a word from you. Just go to school already because I'm not in the mood for you," I say.

"I really didn't mean to disrespect you," she holds tears in her eyes.

"It's not like you care about me. The least you should have done is respect our father who's probably turning in his grave right now. If you want to be a play thing, at least do it elsewhere," I click my tongue.

"I didn't mean to..." the police siren interrupts her. I'm in disbelief that he called the cops on me after everything.

"Great. Your boyfriend just called the cops on me," I open the door wide.

"I'm sure he just filed for a protection order," she says.

"Even so, he's the one who started this and I just finished it."

"I'll talk to him," she looks nervous as if the cops are here for her. They stand by the door and I step outside.

"Good morning. We're looking for Mr Kabelo Phakedi."

"That would be me. Is there something wrong, officers?"

"You're under arrest for the assault of Mr Jimson Radebe. You have the right to remain..."

"It's fine cuff me," I put my wrists together.

"No no please you can't take him. There must be some kind of a misunderstanding," says Ora.

"It's fine Ora, just look after mom. This is exactly what you and your man wanted," they cuff me and all I'm worried about is my mother.

YOLANDA

I still needed my sleep after working the night shift. My phone ringing cuts my dreams short and leaves me with a sudden headache. It's Kabelo, I wonder what he might want at this time of the morning.

"It's either your watch is broken or you have something important to say to me," I say.

"Sis Yolanda hi. Please I need your help," it's Oratilwe from the other end of the line. I immediately panic, what could have happened to Kabelo. I'm one person to quickly imagine the worst case scenario in moments like these and it could either be Kabelo or his mom in trouble.

"Okay okay slow down. You're stressing me out and it's too early for that. Please breathe and tell me what's going in," I immediately get out of bed.

"Kabelo has been arrested and I don't know what to do. I was hoping you're close by so you can come here immediately."

"Arrested? For what now?" Kabelo is not a violent person so what could he be arrested for?

"It's a long story," she breathes heavily on the phone.

"I'm not home but I'll come there as soon as I can," my morning just started on the low and now I have to leave bed and rush there.

JIMMY

I spent the night in hospital and luckily the bastard didn't castrate me. I'm injured but the doctor said I'll heal and I'll be able to use my manhood again. If he wanted to show his manly side, he should have challenged me fist to fist, not throw a brick at me.

"When do you think I'll be able to go home?" I ask the nurse that's taking care of me.

"I can't say but it shouldn't be long before the doctor discharges you," she says.

"Thanks, Thandeka," I read her name tag. She nods and puts my file away before closing the curtains to separate me from the other patients.

"I need to change your bandage," she says. As much as I'm not comfortable with it, she's really gorgeous and if I wasn't in pain, I wouldn't mind her getting her hands on it.

"Will it hurt?"

"It's bound to hurt but I'll be gentle," she says. I nod, taking a deep breath before she unwraps the bandage and gently hold my manhood to examine it.

...

...

My brother came to visit at the hospital and I honestly don't want him to get involved because I know he's a loose cannon. He brought a few things that I like but I doubt I have an appetite.

"How are you feeling?"

"I'll be fine," I try sitting up.

"Give me a name."

"This is exactly what I don't want. I pressed charges so it's fine you can let it go."

"I won't do such. You're my brother and no one hurts you and goes free. We all know how corrupt cops are and he'll be out within a few days if he isn't out yet. Give me a name so I can deal with this dog," he says.

"Come on Chopper I don't need you to fight my battles."

"You know I'll find out even if you don't tell me, right?"

"Alright fine. It's a guy called Kabelo. He's my girlfriend's brother but please whatever you do, leave my girl out of this."

"I leave no stone unturned. Whatever is related to Kabelo will surely feel my wrath. Trust me on that."
