Chapter 55

Dante

*We're at the hospital. The doctor got called inside the room before she could finish talking . Jade is panicking, and her entire body is shaking. I have never seen her like this . I've been trying to keep her calm, but it's a mission.*

Dante : Baby, please calm down. Let's wait to hear from the doctor .

Jade : What if something happened to her ?

*I didn't even know the child's gender.*

Dante :At least you tried to save her life, baby. If you had left her there. She could've died .

Jade : We still don't know if she's alive or dead yet . What if she dies ? What kind of person could do that to their own flesh and blood .

Dante : Shh baby, calm down. It's not good for the baby.

*Her eyes shoot up to look at me . She puts her hand in her stomach as tears start streaming down her face.*

Jade : I promise to protect you, babey .

*She speaks to her stomach . I make her lay on my shoulder and brush her back to calm her down.*

Jade : I'm so hungry.

*She whispers only for me to hear .*

Jade : Get me something to eat . I'm dying here. I need all the strength before the doctor arrives.

Dante : Fine, I'll order it. I don't want to leave you here.

*She nods, snuggling closer to me. After sending the order . The doctor comes again, and she stands up, heading for her.*

Jade : Doctor ?

Doctor : A while ago, we thought the child died, but she survived but is in a very critical condition. She's under strict supervision and sant breathe on her own because of something that was strangling her . We'll keep her here until further notice.

Jade : Thank you so much , Can we see her?

Doctor : I will take you , um can we get her name, please ?

*Jade turns to look at me, and I sigh . This is not what I planned our night to go like at all .*

Dante : We haven't named her yet. We found her in a dumpster .

Jade : I'll call her Bridget .

Doctor : Okay, I'll prepare for her birth certificate to be made . Should I contact lawyers?

Dante : I'll take care of it. It's okay. Thank you, doc .

*The doctor nods and leads us to her . She looks so innocent . Why would anyone do this?*

Jade : I think that document like thing had something of hers .

Dante : Which one ?

Jade : It's in my bag . Let me

*She pulls it out of her bag and opens it . It's pictures of her and her age. There is nothing about her name and surname .*

Jade : It says here she's is only 6 months old .

Dante : I guess we're going with Bridget then .

Jade : Thank you .

Dante : For what?

Jade : This , you , being here with me right now . I appreciate it so much . I don't know how we'll move from here, but it feels good knowing that you're here with me.

Dante : Always. I'm always and will always be here for you . No matter what you need, ok?

*She smiles and nods. I peck her lips as we stare at Little innocent, Bridget . Are we ready for this ?*

Jade : What are we going to do when she wakes up?

Dante : Are we taking her ?

Jade : I don't know, I mean, we still have our own kid coming in 9 months, and I haven't even told my parents yet. I'll try talking to them so they can take her in for now. I feel like she needs that a safe and happy place to grow in .

Dante : That's a great idea.

*A nurse enters and disturbs us.*

Nurse : Time is up . I'm sorry but can you please come again tomorrow?

Dante : No problem, thank you .

*We both turn to leave and get in the car driving home . As soon as we get home . Jade is still a little jumpy, but she's trying to hide it.*

Dante : Baby, are you okay?

Jade : I can still hear her cries . Maybe I just need some rest .

*She says, already climbing up the stares . A few minutes later after I tidied up the place . I head upstairs and find her in the corner crying and singing a song that sounds like lallaby*

Dante : Baby?

Jade : Shh, the baby is almost sleeping .

*She says in a whisper . I get closer to see what she's talking about . She's looking at a blanket and humming a sing to it and shaking in the corner.*

Dante : Baby .

Jade : She looks so beautiful, right? This is her daddy. Our Bridget is finally fine . Look no more stretches on her neck . Do you see her ?

*I nod as she smiles and continues to Humm the invisible baby a lallaby and smile at her . I grab my phone and immediately dial Isabella. She answers on the 2nd ring*

Isabella : Dante?

Dante : Hey, it's Jade she's having an episode . It's serious.

Isabella : I'm coming . Where is she?

Dante : In my house . We'll wait here .

Isabella : I'll bring her medical unit with .

*I drop the call and get closer to her.*

Dante : I love you, okay?

Jade : Sing with me . She looks so happy here . Do you see how happy she looks daddy. Our baby will look this happy too, okay ?

Dante : Yes, she will .

*I kiss her forehead as she lays her head on my chest.*
