CHAPTER 29
*INSERT 29*At Nkanyezi private hospital in Sebokeng…
BONTLE.
I'm devastated and I don't know what to do, I'm pacing up and down in this hospital and I just pray that my friend makes it.
If it wasn't for the bouncers telling me that someone was pulling her with her hair and he was driving a red car I wouldn't have guessed that it's Sbani, what made me to go to his house was that it was said he looked angry and I knew Basetsana wasn't safe. All of this happened while I was in the toilet.
Me: God I hope she makes it, this is my fault, I should have never forced her to go clubbing with me and non of this wouldn't be happening.
One doctor comes out of the room they wheeled her in and I rush to him.
Me: Doctor how is she, is she okay, will she make it?
Doctor: Are you perhaps family?
Me: No uhm I am her friend that came with and I'm the one who found her.
Doctor: oh she's in a critical condition and…
Before he finishes she’s wheeled to another room and I hear them say they are losing her, the doctor leaves me there and rushes to the room they went too.. I'm just left there crying.
God I know I'm not a praying person but please save my friend, I've never been this shit scared in my life.
I sit down and think about how happy we were at the club before all this happened and that alone leaves me crying even more, I decide on calling her mother and she dismisses me telling me that she should have died.
Wow some mothers we have, I call her sister and she tells me where to get off, what kind of twisted family does my friend have nxaa. Nevertheless I'll be here for her and she won't even feel neglected by her own family, I'll make sure I fill that void. I’m not in the mood to tell them shit but their days are coming.
My only worry right now is that person in the ward fighting for her life, I know that son of a bitch is the one who beat her and to why would he leave her there to die alone beats me but his days are coming too nxaa.
I sit on the bench till I fall asleep and I'm woken up by the doctor. I stand up quickly and rub my sore sleepy eyes.
Me: Doctor how is she?
He shakes his head and It's the pity in his eyes that gets me to cry all over again.
Me: No please.
I beg crying.
Doctor: Mam relax, she’s out of danger, we were able to stop the internal bleeding, she had an open cut on her chin and we stitched it up it's not that bad.
He takes a deep breath and continues.
Doctor: We used an ointment for her body, seems like they were kicking her all over her body, there were a few broken bones but we fixed them she's fine now.
I close my eyes for a bit and open them.
He sighs.
Doctor: And the baby is fine just that she has to come back within 2 weeks.
What?, what the hell?, did I hear correct?, this has to be some big mistake.
Me: How is that possible doctor? She didn't say anything about that to me and she has never had any of those pregnancy symptoms or whatever they call it.
Doctor: It happens that she doesn't experience those symptoms until she gives birth, sometimes she'll experience them on the second or third trimester and in this case it's still early. But then others show immediately and I believe she also didn't know.
Wow this is too much, the way I'm so shocked and how will she react when she hears such news?
Me: How's the baby?
Doctor: Even though it's still early to tell, the baby is fine although she has to come back after 2 weeks so that we can monitor the baby and check if he or she is still doing okay. For now everything is well.
Me: Okay thanks doc can I see her?
Doctor: Right now she's on heavy medication so she's resting.
Me: When do you think she'll wake up?
Doctor: let's say in 6 to 7 hours time, So I suggest you come back tomorrow. Visiting hours start from 14:00’O clock to 17:00’O clock.
Me: Okay, when are you discharging her?
Doctor: We just need to monitor her and the baby so I don't see the need to keep her here longer, A day after tomorrow will do.
Me: Okay thanks doc.
Doctor: Does she have any medical aid?
Me: I don't think so.
Doctor: If she doesn't have any she'll have to pay cash.
Me: understandable.
Doctor: Have a great night.
Me: You too.
He leaves and I decide I'll come see her tomorrow.
