The next day, Thandeka and Siphiwe found themselves on a quiet, winding road out of town, their destination unknown but their curiosity too strong to ignore. They’d spent the night poring over the mysterious letter, trying to decipher its meaning. In the end, they realized there was only one place to begin: the small village where Thandeka’s mother, Pastor Nomsa, had grown up.

“I never imagined we’d be going back to the village for answers,” Thandeka mused, her fingers drumming nervously on the car window. “My mom always made it sound like there was nothing there but memories.”
