Later that morning, Thandeka stepped outside, intending to clear her mind with a walk, but the neighborhood had other plans. The moment she closed her door, she saw Mrs. Mkhize, the ultimate neighborhood gossip, marching right toward her. Thandeka barely had time to take a breath before the questions began.

"Thandeka! My girl, I heard rumors that you got married?" Mrs. Mkhize asked, clutching her pearls dramatically. "To that handsome young man from the church? How did that happen without a word to any of us? Are you *sure* you’re alright?"

Thandeka forced a smile, her cheeks already burning. "Yes, Mrs. Mkhize, it’s true. It’s… complicated."
