iMbali yakwa khumalo
CHAPTER 11
*SIYA*
I was sitting in Baba's study with my brothers after kissing Mbali when she said their going to the corner store, when a few moments later I felt a sharp pain under my chest on the right and I lowly grunted
Mandla:"mninwa?"
Me:"I'm fine it's just…it's just a sharp pain"
Babe:"bamaba, phuza amanzi"
I drank the water and I seemed to get better when we suddenly heard a gunshot, screaming and a car speeding of, I immediately thought of imama lami and my sisters who were out there and we all got off our seats when I heard Nomtha's voice shout my name outside and I rushed out to see Nyokayamanzi sitting on the floor speaking to imphepho but I ignored what she was saying and I was met with a frightened Nomtha at the gate
Nomtha:"umbali…"
As soon as she said that I felt as though my heart was about to leap out my throat and I pushed past her and went out the gate when I saw them 2 houses from here, she was on her knees holding her chest with trembling hands and looking at one of her hand, blood was dripping out of her mouth and nose and her white dress slowly turning a crimson red, then she fell back, Lindi held her before she could hit the floor and was tapping her face lightly talking to her and I was frozen in place until I snapped out of it when Lindi shouted for me and I ran to them and picked her up and she looked at me and smiled weakly and held my face getting blood on my cheek but I didn't care as all that was on my mind was to get her to the hospital and keeping her alive
Mbali:"sthandwa sam…"
Me:"mama keep talking to me yezwa and keep your eyes open"
Mbali:"bayangi biza ngalena…kune ngane nenkosikazi futhi"
Me:"don't listen to them baby please"
I felt tears roll down my eyes and I didn't care as she's all I had.
Themba:"Siya get her in the car so we can take her to the hospital, the ambulance won't get here on time"
I nodded and picked her up and we got in the car and Themba sped off and we left the rest behind as they would follow behind us. I looked at imama and she was getting worse and even closing her eyes
Me:"mama, mama don't close your eyes ngiyakucela"
Mbali:"don't cry baby I'm just taking a nap…plus I'm cold"
When she said that last part my heart shuttered as I was losing her
Me:"Themba shesha ndoda! Mama don't sleep; you can't sleep right now ngiyakucela I can't lose you"
Mbali:"ngiyaku'thanda yezwa…"
Then she closed her eyes and fortunetly enough we got to the hospital as she did that and I was practically flying out the car and ran to the emergency entrance where the nurses and doctors saw us and brought a stretcher and took her the O.R. doors and I stood there watching them take her and looked at the chaos going on in this hospital and how overwhelming it all felt, how slow everything was moving and sounding. I felt my chest close in on me and I couldn't breathe or even hear the nurse next to me asking for something I couldn't quite make out and I looked at her
Me:"I can't breathe…"
And I felt like the room was spinning and I met the floor, blacking out.
