DUTY & DESIRE P2
End of part 2
DUTY AND DESIRE.
STORY BY BELLA ROYALTY.
P2/FINALE.
[NKOSINATHI ZUNGU, MR PRESIDENT]
"What's wrong?"
I turn around to find my beautiful baby in my shirt, rubbing her puffy eyes.
Me: You should be resting.
Aphiwe: I know I just thought I heard you speaking to Andile or something about the Hounds Of Justice.
"The doctor is not here sir."
Aphiwe: Who's that? Nathi what's going on?
I exhaled.
Me: Your house is under attack, the Hounds of Justice are there.
Aphiwe: You mean it's a family reunion? I wouldn't worry yourself babe, come back to bed.
Me: Aphiwe, these people are dangerous, I promised your brother I'd send a team over there.
Aphiwe: Don't bother yourself, they are getting what they deserve.
Me: Aphiwe I know you're hurt, but those people are still your family.
Aphiwe: And they need to have a conversation as a family.
I bit my lip.
Me: Baby, this Khathaza of a character almost blew you up and you're his daughter, what do you think he will do to the people that sent him to jail for a crime he didn't commit?
Aphiwe: He will give them exactly what they deserve, come to bed Nkosinathi.
Me: I can't just—
Aphiwe: You will Nkosinathi, you will.
Me: Can I just send a team for supervision?
Aphiwe: No.
She looked at me with a look I've never seen before, I sighed.
Me: Fine, let's go back to bed.
Aphiwe: Good choice.
She walked to the bedroom.
Me: Andile? What's going on there?
"You sent me to jail for a crime I didn't commit all because she loved me more than you? Your own brother Bhekumuzi?" Andile never ended the call with me so I could hear them from afar though.
I switched the call off and texted HOPA with the Bhengu's family location and instructions and then followed Aphiwe to bed, I got inside the covers and she laid her head on my chest and I kissed her forehead.
Me: I have to be somewhere in the early hours of the morning baby, I know this isn't a good time and all, but I have to leave. I will be back before you know it and no one should know that I've left.
Aphiwe: Where are you going?
Me: I can't tell you.
She kept quiet.
Me: It's for your own safety, I will put out an alert that I shouldn't be disturbed, Melusi will handle everything concerning the presidency.
Aphiwe: Okay.
Me: I love you.
Aphiwe: I love you too.
Me: I won't be here in the morning when you wake up.
Aphiwe: I understand.
_______
I took Leo and Marcus with me, we flew in the early hours of the morning to Zim after we got confirmation of where the president was, he was in a hotel with baddies, it must be nice.
Since he was where he shouldn't have been, he had ditched his security, so it was easy getting to him. When we got there they were still passed out but we took the girls to another room and only us remained in the room, I grabbed a chair and made myself comfortable while getting an update on the hostage situation at the Bhengu house.
Dark Phoenix: Mr President.
Me: Dark Phoenix, status report?
Dark Phoenix: Well why didn't you warn me that this Khathaza of a character is a lunatic? He shot his brother and his wife.
Me: They are still alive though right?
Dark Phoenix: I wasn't going to let him kill them, they are in hospital.
Me: And him?
Dark Phoenix: Him and his cronies have been detained at the Base.
Me: Thank you for your service Agent Dark Phoenix.
Dark Phoenix: Happy to serve sir, what do you want us to do with them?
Me: Those people are terrorists and should be treated as such, however I will send Melusi with the first lady over there, she might want to speak to Khathaza.
Dark Phoenix: Yes sir, I will be expecting them.
Me: Roger that.
I dropped the call and sent Melusi a text and Mr Nyoni woke up, he looked startled and before he could react I raised my gun at him.
Me: I wouldn't advise that Kudakwashe.
Kuda: You're the…you're the president of South Africa!
Me: Nkosinathi Zungu should be fine, I'm not here on official presidential business.
Kuda: Then what the hell are you here for?
Me: Please don't act stupid, you summoned my presence, the minute you decided to make my country a target, you summoned my presence, so here I am, I'm sure you've done your research about who I am and you knew lying on my name and forcing me to step down wasn't really going to do the trick, I figured after I've stepped down from being the president and your brother in law was the president as well as your cousin being the first lady, you'd force him to punish me for the 200 people I supposedly killed, right? I'd spend the rest of my life in jail, while you did away with my country.
He swallowed.
Me: You know if you wanted me to give you tips on how to successfully run a country and take it from a developing African country list to a developed African country list, you could have asked, instead of trying to steal my country from me and honestly your act showed just how much of a coward you are.
Kuda: Nkosinathi…
Me: I am still talking.
He shut up.
Me: Now If you want to get into someone's territory and defeat them, you kill them, you don't fabricate stories, tarnish their name and incite a war that soldier to soldier you'd never win, you send a hit on them, they die and you invade the country while its people mourn their leader, but I guess they don't teach you that at Law school.
I stood up.
Me: Oh well, if we were friends, we could have ruled this continent together but because you're a greedy motherf— well here we are, one of us has to go, I will let you do the honors but not after you've recorded a video, detailing your plan to steal South Africa, don't forget to name all your associates and also, before I forget, do tell people that you had your own people held hostage and lied about them being dead.
Kuda: I cannot do that! My people will hang me! The military here will hang me!
Me: That's why you won't wait for such a painful death Kudakwashe Nyoni, you will die with dignity because you are the president your name must live on in the history tales.
Kuda: You want me to shoot myself?
Me: Are you expecting me to shoot you? God forbid Kudakwashe give me some respect, I'm not a murderer! Leo!
Leo walked in with a video recorder.
Me: Get dressed Mr President, you're about to be on TV, You like that shit don't you?
Kudakwashe(begging): Nkosinathi please! Please don't do this! I will apologise, I will confess, just don't kill me, I have a family, I have kids, we will disappear from the face of the earth, just don't kill me.
Me: Like I said, I won't get my hands dirty with your blood, after all we are brothers, we are Africans and I don't support Xenophobia, get dressed, I have to be back home before anyone notices that I've slipped out, make it snappy.
He slowly got out of bed, muttering something in Shona with tears in his eyes.
Me: Do you need help getting dressed Mr President?
Kudakwashe: God of my ancestors, I beg you. Let this not be the day I die…
[MELUSI SHOZI]
Every morning before he starts his day, he goes jogging leaving his two sons and wife in the house. I slipped inside during his morning jog.
I placed my hand over Thandai's mouth to prevent her from screaming. As soon as she woke up, she squinted her eyes as I pulled her off the bed.
Me: If you make a sound, those two beautiful boys will die, don't test me. I have no regard for any human life.
She nodded repeatedly and I placed her down and pushed her towards the kitchen where her rascals were chained to their chairs, mouths gagged and eyes blindfolded.
Thandai: Please Mr, please don't hurt my kids, you can take anything from the house please my husband is the Minister Of Finance and he's…
Me: It's not even 8am and you already have this much energy to speak?
She kept quiet with tears in her eyes as I tied her up as well.
Me: Now we wait for the husband to come back from his morning jog, lovely house by the way, you don't mind me helping myself to breakfast do you?
I bit some toast and my phone beeped.
Me(smiles): Silent killer, you really don't like getting blood on your clothes.
I looked over at the wife.
Me: Condolences on your loss by the way in advance, because I like you, I'll let you know the big news first, you know an exclusive, President of Zim, Kudakwashe Nyoni has passed.
Thandai(shocked): What?
Me: That's what happens to traitors, greedy presidents who've been placed on the ruling seat in their country but still want more, honestly Zim is better off without the man, oh I'm sorry, that messes up with your plans doesn't it? Now you won't be the first lady of South Africa! Sorry.
Tears streamed down her eyes and the door opened.
Me(smiles): Minister!! Lovely for you to join us!
Thabo: Melu…Melusi what the hell?
Me: Sit down!
Thabo: Don't tell me to sit down, security!
Me: They won't come to your aid, government property and at this moment, I am the government and you are not! Sit down or I'll blow your son's head off.
Thabo: You wouldn't dare!
Me: I'm an animal, of course I would.
Thabo: Melusi dont—
I shot one through the head, the wife screamed.
Me: Oops, I meant to shoot his leg, forgive me I'm getting old, I'm not as sharp as I used to be.
Thabo: You killed my son, you son of a b—!!
Me: Rage! Yes!!!
He charged at me in an attempt to swing his fist at me which I ducked, we wrestled each other to the floor, I punched his gut repeatedly and tossed him on the other side of the room, he groaned, crawling for my gun that had been tossed to the floor.
His wife was screaming, even the remaining kid was screaming as Thabo and I exchanged blows on the floor, I pressed my knee on his chest and clocked the gun on his forehead.
Me(breathless): I knew I should have stretched, I'm a little rusty but anyway, that was fun, are you going to piss me off again Thabo? Or will I have to shoot TJ over there?
Thandai(crying): Thabo please!! He's already killed our son. I can't lose another one!!
Thabo(groans): Get off me!!
I got off him and stood on my feet.
Me: Right, now that you know I mean business, we can talk.
Thabo(sobs): How could you just shoot a 12 year child!!
Me: Oh easy! The same way you conspired with your brother in law to steal South Africa, very easy actually.
Thandai: You are a monster!
Me: Oh my, thank you! Should I shoot you too Miss Harare?
She kept her mouth shut.
Me: I never liked you, just putting it out there, I was against Nkosinathi giving you this position but the man had faith in you, look at where we are now, you conspired against the presidency, shame on you! You took an oath and said you'd serve at the pleasure of the president and this country but you almost gave it up to your Zim in law! You honestly thought Kudakwashe would make you the president? After Nkosinathi stepped down?
Thabo(sobs): I'm sorry!!
Me: Because you got caught? Thabo respect me.
Thabo: I'm sorry, I will do anything just please don't kill my wife and child! I'm the traitor!
Me: No, she's the traitor! Wena you jumped borders and escaped your poverty stricken country thinking you'd find a South African man who'd bring wealth to you?To your people's? I could shoot you right now!!
Thandai(crying): Please dont—
I shot her on the stomach and she screamed in agony.
Me: Next one will be headed for your exposed veranda of a forehead, Thabo, you can redeem yourself buddy.
Thabo(sobs): I will do anything!!! Just don't kill the only family I have left.
Me: Good, a desperate man, I can work with that, get dressed, we are going live in a few minutes, you'll admit to everything, and when I say everything I mean everything and you'll announce that you're stepping down from being the Minister of Finance, are we clear?
He nodded repeatedly.
[DR. APHIWE BHENGU]
Andile wasn't answering my calls, so I opted to call Nolwazi.
Nolwazi: Hello?
Me: Nolwazi, hi.
Nolwazi: Hi.
Me: Are you okay?
Nolwazi: A little traumatized but I'm okay, mama noBaba aren't though, he shot them.
Me: Is Andile okay?
Nolwazi: Aphiwe did you hear what I said? Some Khathaza man shot your parents!
Me: Send my regards to Andile.
I dropped the call and exhaled, they are alive, that's all that matters, where on earth is Nkosinathi?
There was a knock at the door and I fixed myself.
Me: Come in.
Melusi walked in.
Melusi: Greetings Doctor.
Me: Good morning Melusi.
Melusi: I've been sent by the President, we have somewhere we have to be.
Me: Where?
Melusi: Figured you'd like to meet your father.
Me: He… he is not my father.
Melusi: Uncle then?
Me: Is it necessary?
Melusi: You will never see him again, he's government property now and a terrorist, we don't exactly give them the princess treatment after they've been caught.
I swallowed and got up and took my phone.
Me: Okay.
He led the way, we drove to some huge building that looked like those FBI or CIA buildings in the movies, we had to be verified before we drove in, the security checks were endless.
We were welcomed by a familiar face, wait is that?
Melusi(smiles): Dark Phoenix!
Dark Phoenix: Agent Wulfric.
They shared a hug, excuse me?
Melusi: Good to see you again, this is the lovely miss Aphiwe Bhengu.
Me: Hi.
Melusi: I believe the future first lady is starstruck, no dear you aren't seeing things, this is Simelokuhle Msomi, also known as Sasha da Showstopper.
Me: Msomi? Does that mean you're back with Lindokuhle?
Sasha(smiles): Aren't you a little curious?
Me(laughs nervously): I'm sorry.
Sasha: It's okay, and yes that means we are back together, we are remarried actually, in a private ceremony.
Oh, what happened to Dr Nicolas Ferguson?
Sasha: Welcome to House Of Pain Agents, basically our version of the FBI/ CIA.
Me: Wow, I read about this in your book, you really are a spy.
Sasha: Not just a spy, I run this shit. Agent Wulfric and The Silent Killer were once part of this organization but unfortunately a man cannot escape his destiny and when destiny called, Agent Wulfric was assigned to take care of our president, they've gone on to do amazing work.
Me(whispering): Who's The Silent killer?
Melusi: Your man.
My man? Wait… He was a spy too? And he was named The Silent Killer?
Sasha: Let's just say, he's very skilled, he can drop about 100 bodies without making a sound and his sniper skills? Legendary.
Yoh!
Melusi: Anyway Dark Phoenix we are rather here for more pressing issues.
Dark Phoenix: Of course, follow me.
They walked further while I followed behind, admiring the place, a place ran by a woman! Impressive.
Dark Phoenix: So when do you think The Silent Killer will bring the future first lady here for training? He never wanted the former First lady to be trained, I take it this one is serious?
Melusi: It's very serious I can assure you, she's currently going through stuff but once she's okay, she will be sent your way.
Dark Phoenix: Great, women should know how to defend themselves should a need arise and this recent threat in our country has proven just that.
Melusi: I agree.
I was just following them.
Dark Phoenix: So… I got the President of Zim's confession, is he done?
Melusi: Drop, dead gone.
Dark Phoenix: Very quiet.
Melusi: Wouldn't expect anything less from our Silent killer.
They laughed, what does that mean? We reached a ward.
Dark Phoenix: Doctor, don't be afraid, he won't hurt you, the minute you want to leave, press this button, my agents will come and fetch you.
I nodded as the doors opened and I slowly walked in to a man sitting on a chair, his ankles were chained as well as his hands, he looked like my father, Bhekumuzi that is.
I walked to him and slapped him so hard that my palms got itchy.
Me: That was for trying to kill me!
Khathaza(smiles): You are truly your father's daughter, feisty!
Me: Why? Why would you try to kill me? Your own daughter? I never sent you to jail for a crime you didn't commit! Infact I was a victim in this as well yet you tried to kill me and not only that you are working with the Zim government to take down the president! You are a traitor to your country!
Khathaza: You mean the same country and government that sent an innocent man to jail? How many men are rotting away in prison for crimes they didn't commit all because a woman said she was assaulted? You'd be surprised Doctor! I hate everything that's a woman! Women are manipulative and are liars! I've watched powerful men being destroyed by women!
Me: You were hurt by one woman and you punish us all?
Khathaza: Aren't all men dogs?
I swallowed.
Khathaza: I don't know what you thought you could achieve by coming here, you are not my daughter, I have no remorse for what I tried to do to you, given the chance, I'd blow your brains out myself, you make me sick! The fact that you look like your mother pisses me off as well. From now on, ask your man to provide extra security for you. I've put a bounty on your head, I want you dead, and that whore of a woman you call a mother, nx!
Don't cry, don't cry, don't cry, I kept telling myself as I walked away from him, as soon as I was out of sight, I fell on my knees, struggling to breathe, not another panic attack I prayed, but how could he say that? There was this throbbing pain lunging in my heart.
