"Hi, my name is Xolani Mdlalose and I am a former petty crimes thug who use used to mug members of the community with my friend Bheki so that we could have something to eat at night.

The day of the KZN flood 08 April 2022 really changed my life in a big way. I remember me and my friend were roaming the streets towards the Bridge City Mall looking to mug anyone we came across. Because many roads were not accessible as a result of them being flooded we took a route that would lead us to a damaged wooden bridge in the middle of nowhere. As we approached the bridge my best friend Bheki heard a voice of a little child screaming for help.
