This book wasn’t for me. The writing lacks depth and intimacy. It felt rushed. The couple had no real struggles ( the brother shouldn’t be their main problem as a couple). It failed to show us the basics of the couple’s connection and their chemistry feels made up. The book kept jumping to 1 month later, 2 months later without showing the growth that happened in between. The husband and sister lost a person in common but it failed to show the pain they felt individually and how it was dealt with to a point where they were both ready to move on with each other ( because let’s be honest, it’s not a small ask to be asked to marry your sister’s husband) yet they made the dead sister a non- factor when the two decide to fall Inlove with each other. The book felt like its main focus was on witchcraft more than it was about the love between Mabutho and Amanda. The sex scene was such a let down because after reading the entire book, one would expect to be transported when that moment came but it lacked so much… Not forgetting the over use of Antithesis and so many spelling errors Gosh! 🫨. However it has good bones I’m not gonna lie, it needed a little more time, attention and refinement.
