Thokozile Mageza is a young widow struggling to survive after the death of her husband, Kholiwe Majola, who left behind a house that is now at risk of being repossessed by the bank. Forced to live with her abusive mother-in-law, KaMajola, and her cruel sister-in-law, Zenande, she carries the burden of supporting a family that constantly mistreats her. After losing the opportunity to take over her husband's position at Ndlovu Diamonds and Co., she desperately searches for another way to save her home. Her best friend, Ziyanda, introduces her to Rental Agency, a company where women are contracted as temporary wives for clients who need them for personal or business reasons. Faced with losing everything, Thokozile agrees to meet a client, only to discover that he is Muziwekhaya Ndlovu—a wealthy businessman and artist who seems to share a mysterious connection with her past.
