Thando: His Light (Lesedi La Gage)

Thando: His Light (Lesedi la Gagwe) is a raw South African township drama that follows Thando Mkhize, once the glamorous wife of powerful tenderpreneur Mandla Mkhize, whose world shatters when Mandla is shot during a corrupt deal and later found dead, forcing her and son Oratile from luxury back to the harsh streets of Soweto. As Thando rebuilds amid betrayal, asset seizures, and grief, her path reignites a passionate, dangerous romance with her former lover Sgora (Lesedi Dlamini), a street-smart gangster whose light once guided her youth and now pulls her into a world of crime, loyalty, and forbidden desire. Through rotating POVs of Thando, Oratile, rebellious Keoratilwe, troubled Tshepiso, suffering Naledi, drunken Olwethu, and Sgora himself, the story weaves intense family violence, gang robberies, church hypocrisy, rival threats, domestic abuse leading to tragedy, and resilient survival, exploring corruption, class collapse, love, and the heavy price of choices in modern Soweto.
