Kwanele is a respected teacher bound by the rigid expectations of his traditional upbringing and a past he cannot seem to outrun. His life takes a complicated turn when he meets Phindile, a bright eighteen year old student who has traveled from rural KwaZulu-Natal to Johannesburg in search of the education his village could not provide. Though Phindile is under the care of his aunt and focused on his future, an undeniable and risky spark ignites between him and Kwanele. Their blossoming romance defies the boundaries of the classroom and the strict moral codes of their culture, placing them both in a precarious position. As secret feelings grow, the weight of Kwanele’s history and the expectations of their families begin to close in on them. In a city built on dreams and harsh realities, they must decide if their love is worth the certain fallout.
