CHAPTER TWENTY FOUR

??????? ????

I thank Ethan for his comforting words and hang up the phone. I look down at the baby, who's been quietly observing our conversation, and smile.

Me : Time for your bath, little one

I gently undress him and place him in the tub, making sure the water's not too hot. He giggles and splashes, enjoying the warm water. I wash him quickly, knowing he's getting sleepy.

After the bath, I wrap him snugly in a towel and rock him gently. He closes his eyes, and I can see the exhaustion taking over. I hum a soft lullaby, and soon he's fast asleep in my arms.

I place him in his crib, making sure he's comfortable, and then head to the kitchen to prepare something to eat. I'm starving, having skipped breakfast earlier. I scramble some eggs and toast some bread, savoring the simple yet satisfying meal.

As I eat, my mind wanders back to Ashley and the events of the day. I hope she's doing okay, and that she'll recover soon.

I finish my meal, wash the dishes, and settle down on the couch .. Despite the chaos, I'm grateful for this quiet moment to myself.

As I sit on the couch, l think of Ashley and the trauma she's endured. I think it's crucial for her to press charges against her assailant - it's a vital step towards justice and healing. I know it won't be easy, but I believe it's essential for her to take back control and stand up for herself.

As I reflect on my own experiences with abuse, I feel a strong desire to share my story and help others who are going through similar situations. I realize that I want to create a safe space for women to share their stories, receive support, and find empowerment. A place where they can heal and grow without fear of judgment or repercussions.

The idea excites me, and I can envision a cozy, welcoming center where women can come together and support one another. I'd call it "Hope's Haven" - a beacon of light in the darkness.

I imagine offering counseling services, support groups, and educational resources to help women navigate their situations and find strength within themselves. I'd also love to have a children's area, where kids can play and receive support while their mothers are in sessions.

My heart swells with passion and purpose as I think about the impact Hope's Haven could have. I know it won't be easy, but I'm willing to put in the work to create a sanctuary for women to heal and thrive.

As the hours pass, I hear the sound of the front door opening, signaling the arrival of my kids from school. Tiana runs straight to the sleeping Neo and gives a excited squeal.

Tiana : Mommy, Mommy! Who's this little one?

Joshua looks up at me with a puzzled expression.

Joshua : Where did you get the baby, Mommy?

Me :This is Ashley's baby. My madam and she's in the hospital right now. I'm taking care of the baby until she gets better.

Tiana's eyes widen with excitement.

Tiana :Did you kidnap the baby?

she asks, giggling.

I chuckle and reassure her,

Me : No, sweetie, I didn't kidnap the baby. Ashley is in the hospital, and I'm just helping out by taking care of her baby until she's well enough to come home.

Joshua nods, seeming to understand.

Joshua : Oh, okay. So we get to keep the baby until Ashley gets better?

I smile and nod.

Me : That's right, sweetie. We'll take good care of the baby until Ashley is well enough to take care of him again.
