CHAPTER 7

NOMBULELO

Nombulelo, Ngwenya's ex-lover, sat in Ms. Moyo's office, sipping tea.

"I need your help, Ms. Moyo," Nombulelo said, her voice laced with desperation.

Ms. Moyo, Ore's teacher, raised an eyebrow. "What's going on, Nombulelo?"

"I want Ngwenya back. He's moved on to that...girl, Orearabetswe," Nombulelo spat.

Ms. Moyo's expression turned calculating. "Ah, Ore. She's one of my brightest students."

Nombulelo's eyes narrowed. "You can help me. You're her teacher. You have influence."

Ms. Moyo leaned back in her chair. "What do you propose?

Nombulelo's smile was sinister. "We can make Ngwenya doubt Ore's intentions. Make him see she's not worthy of him."

Ms. Moyo's eyes sparkled with intrigue. "Go on."

Nombulelo's plan unfolded, manipulative and cunning.

"We'll start by spreading rumours about Ore's loyalty. Make Ngwenya question her commitment."

Ms. Moyo nodded, her expression cold. "I'll take care of it."

As Nombulelo left the office, a sinister alliance was formed.

Meanwhile, Ngwenya and Ore walked hand in hand, oblivious to the storm brewing.

OREARABETSWE

Ore fidgeted with her napkin, avoiding eye contact with her parents, Khwezi and Lerothodi.

"Ore, what's bothering you?" Khwezi asked, concern etched on her face.

Mpumelelo, Ore's twin brother, chimed in, sitting across from her. "Maybe I should tell them?"

Ore shot Mpumelelo a warning glance.

Lerothodi chuckled. "What's going on here?"

Ore took a deep breath. "I...I wanted to talk to you about someone."

Khwezi's eyes sparkled. "Someone special?"

Ore nodded, her voice barely above a whisper. "His name is Ngwenya. We met at the local community garden."

Mpumelelo grinned mischievously. "And he's totally smitten with Ore! He's rich, handsome—"

Ore's face turned bright red. "Mpumelelo!"

Lerothodi raised an eyebrow. "Tell us more about this Ngwenya."

Ore hesitated before launching into a nervous explanation.

Khwezi listened attentively, a warm smile on her face. "We want to meet him."

Lerothodi nodded. "Soon."

As dinner concluded, Ore breathed a sigh of relief.

Mpumelelo teased, "You owe me, twin!"

Ore playfully rolled her eyes. "Thanks for almost spilling the beans!"

Lerothodi leaned forward, his eyes sparkling with curiosity. "How old is he?"

Ore hesitated before responding, "He's 25."Khwezi raised an eyebrow. "That's quite an age gap. What does he do for a living?". Ore took a deep breath. "He's a businessman. He inherited his family's company."

Mpumelelo chimed in, "And he's really successful, Mom. He's got connections all over Johannesburg."Lerothodi's expression turned thoughtful. "That's impressive. But we want to make sure he's good for you, Ore."

Khwezi nodded. "We want to meet him, get a sense of his character."Ore smiled, relieved. "I'll arrange dinner soon."

Mpumelelo grinned mischievously. "I'll make sure to grill him, Dad."Lerothodi chuckled. "I'm counting on you, Mpumelelo."As the conversation continued, Ore's nerves dissipated, replaced by excitement.
