KEPT

CHAPTER 14

Milisa keeps stealing glances at me as I write an email back to my supplier. My mind drifts off to the few hours I spent with Ndyebo. I don't remember the last time I was genuinely me with no filter or need to try to be strong. I can't help the smile that spreads out on my face it has Milisa giggling like a love sick teenager. She comes to sit next to me, smiling widely.

I give her a look, and she laughs at me, even throwing her head back. I just became funnier than Trevor Noah. She fixes her face when she sees me still glaring at her.

Lilitha:Okay, what is it?

Milisa:You're glowing. You have that I got serviced good kind of glow.

"She's right mam you look radiant and more happy."

Milisa: Thank you, Langa. Now, out with it.

Lilitha:Firstly, mna nawe we're not friends don't talk to me like that.

Milisa:I love you too now out with it.

I giggle, looking at her. Just the thought of how Ndyebo has been treating me makes me blush. If I was light, I'm sure I would be pink right now.

Lilitha:I'm happy, that's all.

Milisa:Does it have anything to do with the fine gentleman you were with earlier?

Lilitha:Back to work, Milisa.

Milisa:Whatever it is that made you like this, keep at it. I love you when you're happy.

Langa:Happiness looks good on you, mam.

They both walk out of my office. I can't help but smile. I'm happy it's been a while, even. I carry on with my work, occasionally glancing at my cellphone for time. By 3: 30, everything is done. I send him a text, and he says he'll be here in a few minutes. I decided to call Dali in the meantime.

Dali:Stranger, your soon to be husband was just here.

Lilitha:Unjani Dali?

Dali:Ndiphilile ntwana, what's up?

Lilitha:When am I seeing you? There's something I want us to discuss.

Dali:After your wedding, maybe later tomorrow or on Tuesday.

Lilitha:Tuesday it is then.

Dali:Anyways, when was the last time you went to check on the company?

Lilitha:What company now?

Dali:Yours.

Lilitha:Ohh, I'm at work as we speak.

Dali:How is it going?

Lilitha:Good, actually better than I had imagined. I'll be opening up more stores soon.

Dali:I was talking about the construction company. NZ Lilitha.

Lilitha:Why would i check on NZ?

Dali:Because it's your company, Lilitha. Don't tell me you didn't know.

Lilitha:I didn't know. Last I checked, the lawyer was still sorting something out.

Dali:Well, it's yours. Ntlantla is the one in charge for now, but you can take over.

Lilitha:No, I'm good he can carry on.

Dali:Are you sure?

Lilitha:Yeah, I'm sure. Anyways, it was nice talking to you. I'll see you soon.

Dali:Ngomso wethu stop being modest bye.

Lilitha:Bye.

I get up from my desk, packing up my laptop. I have a lot of work to do when I get home, and first thing tomorrow is to check out the site and then ndibuyele for this wedding thing it feels rushed, but then what can we do?

"Babe, you seem to be thinking a lot lately. What is it?"

I turn to look at him. He's wearing shorts with a golf t-shirt. He changed, and here I am looking like a hobo.

Ndyebo:Hey, talk to me, utyiwa yintoni?

Lilitha:it's noting I just feel overwhelmed with everything happening so fast it's hard to keep up.

Ndyebo:Don't worry, I'll keep up for you.

Lilitha:Okay, bhuti. Let's go. I'm all done.

Ndyebo:Just a small kiss for the road. A peckhanyana sthandwa sam.

I smile at his playfulness. it's actually really refreshing. I take his hand, tugging him closer to me. His smile is a whole lot naughty. The kiss is sloppy he seems to be in a hurry even.

Ndyebo:Just one baby.

Lilitha:Close the door.

I don't even have to tell him twice. He goes to lock the door, and we're back at it. I didn't think I missed being touched this much. He has a way only he can make me come. The confidence I have right now. All because I'm being satisfied.
