KEPT

CHAPTER 4

I don't know how to feel about everything that is happening right now. The Diko family is here, and according to my sister, my future husband as well. I would really love to see him, but I have a busy day at the boutique today. A woman is having her engagement party, so she came with a few of her friends to choose clothing from me. I put away my plate and grab my car keys, and use the kitchen door to the garage. I get inside my car and drive out the gate, which is already wide open.

Mom is going to kill me for not telling her that I'm leaving already. My phone beeps a text from Dali. I didn't even know he had my number. We are not that close. He was just that guy I had a huge crush on, but then his friend was the one who claimed me, and if you knew Nzolo, trust me, it's not easy resisting his charm.

Dali:dinner tonight?

Lilitha:You're paying ke bhuti.

I drop my phone on the passenger seat when I'm done typing. I park on my reserved parking and check my makeup. I put on my red bottom stilettos and get out of the car. It's already buzzing inside. This better be worth it. Milisa smiles an exhausted smile when she sees me.

Lilitha:Everything okay?

Milisa:Please help them out they're so demanding its crazy. I don't even know where they're getting the money to look hood as hell.

Lilitha:hayi wena, are we being judgemental? I just need them to pay so I can be richer than I am now.

She laughs as I walk towards them. Milisa takes my bag and walks to my office. The ladies turn to look at me. I smile my professional smile.

Lilitha:Ladies, welcome to Elite Boutique. I'm Lilitha Nombona, and I'll be assisting you today.

"Pleased to meet you, Lilitha. I'm Zanele, and these are my friends. I just recently got engaged, so I need to look the part for my engagement party. My fiance is a doctor. You know the drill."

Lilitha:Okay, so tell me about your theme. Milisa gets Siza to give the ladies refreshments.

They took their things and went to pay. Milisa comes to me in my office with breakfast. She takes a seat as I go through my books. I can't really trust anyone with my things.

My sister helps here and there since she's an auditor. We talk about business since business is going well, especially online. I want to expand my store, maybe to Johannesburg or Cape Town, I'll see.

Milisa:You got an invite to some party in ICC tonight.

Lilitha:What kind of party?

Milisa:What I know is that business people will be there.

Lilitha:I'm defined wearing that dress I made.

Milisa:And since I'm your favorite assistant, I have taken care of your outfit tonight. I'm glad you did your hair.

Lilitha:You'll do my makeup, morc?

Milisa:Yes, I'll do it.

Lilitha:I have to cancel on Dali, or he could be my plus one.

Milisa:You won't need a plus one. Tomorrow night, you can take him to the casino it's officially opening.

Lilitha:Yeah, let me text him.

I said, walking away from her. I get my phone from my office texting him. He texts back, telling me he forgot he also has plans for the night. We promise each other tomorrow night.

Lilitha:I'll come back later for the dress. I have to get a few things in town.

Milisa:Okay, have fun.

I laugh, walking out of the shop. My phone beeps with a text from my mother telling me about a lunch at home. I didn't get the memo, I guess.

Lilitha:Sorry, I can't make it, mom. Love you.

I texted back, getting inside my car. I started at the municipality for my title deed. I finally got land of my own to build the apartments I wanted. After that, I drove to CTM and then build it. I'm only telling my parents later today when I arrive with my car. Yep, I'm getting a new ride as well.

Lelam texts me that she's already at the car dealership. I drive off dancing along Beyoncé's upgrade. I park outside, getting my phone and ID card.
